About the Artist
Judy Adams Jones has been drawing since she was a young child, and painting for over twenty years. Being primarily self-taught, she has combined art classes at Kent State University, with years of independent study to develop a style of her own.
She began her art career painting on furniture, and was quickly accepted into fine galleries and juried art shows. Her furniture pieces reside in homes from the East coast to the West coast, and even in Scotland. While continuing to use furniture as a palette, she also paints two-dimensional works in acrylic. In her studio in Richfield, Ohio, and her part-time residences in rural Ohio and the Florida Keys, she is inspired by the diverse environments in which she lives.
Believing that we are our best selves when we focus on what is beautiful and good, Judy seeks to evoke a sense of optimism with her paintings. Whether portraying a pastoral field, a small-town festival, animals, or an underwater swim in the sea, she seeks to bring a sense of joy to the viewer. Saturated earth tones, especially greens and blues, dominate her palette and demonstrate her love of nature.
Original paintings may be purchased where available, and prints are available in various sizes. Judy accepts commissions and welcomes visitors to her home studio/gallery by appointment.

There’s a steadfast seriousness and thoughtfulness captured in this painting. Portraits are one of the most difficult subjects in painting and this artist has done a nice job.
